 IEOC Membership Invitation Dear prospective IEOC members, I am pleased to announce that the International Equine Ophthalmology Consortium (IEOC) has created a formal member organization; we would like to invite you to participate. The Mission of the IEOC is “to advance the science of equine ophthalmology and to improve care of our equine patients”. The organization is being filed as a 501c3 member organization. Criteria for membership include: - A person who has demonstrated interest in the advancement of the science of equine ophthalmology;
- A degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent) and/or an advanced research or medical degree with evidence of research related to equine ophthalmology;
- A history of clinical or basic science research related to equine ophthalmology.
A modest dues assessment is being collected to provide member benefits and assist with the operation of the IEOC’s functions. Applications should be submitted with dues fee and will be reviewed for approval. Final confirmation will be supplied in writing to the applicant. Should the application be rejected, dues fees will be fully refunded. The dues cycle will run from September 1st to August 31. Continuing education is a vital goal of the IEOC. This goal will be accomplished through its member benefits program (see list below) and execution of its annual symposium. The symposium will continue to stand alone as an education option; the location will alternate between American and European locations. IEOC members will be provided priority registration and reduced fees. Benefits of IEOC membership include:- Priority registration for IEOC symposia.
- Reduced registration fees for IEOC symposia.
- Exclusive access to internal IEOC website and interactive forum
- searchable archived on-line case forums
- membership directory
- access to online clinical studies (information, possible database input)
- listing on equine ophthalmology specialty referral database
- IEOC email address, if desired
- Quarterly newsletter with updates on clinical studies
The IEOC will meet in a mini-symposium during the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists’ (ACVO) conference, November 6, 2009. The next full IEOC symposium is scheduled to be held in Vienna, Austria, June 4-5, 2010.
If you have questions regarding the IEOC or the symposium, please contact me.
Thank you for your interest and participation. Sincerely, Dr. Brian Gilger
